Family History
Over the years, members of the family have traced where the Scaddens came from and where they went. This part of the site is where we bring that work together, so it isn't lost in drawers, old computers and the memories of a few people.
Family stories
Members write the family's stories: where the name came from, the places we lived and the journeys we made, and the lives of those who came before us, with the old photos and documents that go with them. A moderator checks each story before it appears. Read the stories.
The family tree
A tree we build together, with a page for each person: their dates, their family, photos and sources, and the stories about them. Explore it as a tree, or look people up by surname or search. Members add themselves and their relatives, link their account to their own place in it ("this is me"), and can download the tree as a GEDCOM file for their own family history software. Living relatives stay private
Anyone who may still be alive is never shown publicly. In the tree, that's anyone born in the last 100 years with no death recorded: members see only their name, the year they were born and their family. Stories are for members only, unless a moderator makes one public, and only if it names no living person without their agreement. Anyone can make their own entry private.
